Hunt County Is 170 Today; Courthouse Is On National Registry; Program At 10 AM Monday

Carol Taylor, the chairman of the Hunt County Historical Commission, says the state legislature created Hunt County from Fannin and Nacogdoches Counties on April 11, 1846, 170 years ago today (Monday, April 11).  The current Hunt County Courthouse opened April 11, 1929, and the courthouse has been named to the prestigious National Registry of Historic Places.  A ceremony observing all of these historical milestones will take place at 10 a.m. today at the courthouse.
