This coming year Cooper High School will be expanding Career and Technical courses to include Audio/Video Production. Students will explore both studio and field television production techniques with hands on instruction in videography, lighting, producing, directing and editing.
Journalism teacher Delinda Leatherwood moved forward in developing the course idea after the student interest survey revealed an overwhelming interest in audio/video communications. Videography equipment, green screen, video editing software and microphones have arrived and the students cannot wait to get started.
"I am very excited to learn something new," Cooper High School junior Kiana Miller said. "Since our society is filled with technology, learning these skills could be very useful in my future. I also think it will be a lot of fun!"
Plans for production include video highlights of academic and athletic events, along with student productions of school news and announcements. CHS looks forward to this innovative program allowing students to explore opportunities within communication careers.
