North Hopkins Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Brian Christopher Lowe as the new 2017-18 North Hopkins High School Principal.

In a special called meeting the North Hopkins Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Brian Christopher Lowe as the new 2017-18 North Hopkins High School Principal.

He is currently the Middle School Principal at Winona ISD near Hawkins, Texas. Prior to Winona he spent a year as Alpine Middle School Principal and two years as Assistant Principal at Marshall Junior High School. He has coached football, track, basketball and cross country throughout his education career that started in 1997.

He has spent time at Waskom High School, Griffin Middle School (in Lewisville), Lake Dallas High School and Sonora High School.

Graduating in the top 10 percent of his class at Ballinger High School, Lowe went on to pursue his Kinesiology degree from Angelo State University and master’s degree and principal’s certification from the University of Texas at Tyler. Outside of the teaching realm he spent several months with the Plano Police Department and is TCLEOSE certified as well as six years in the United States Air Force stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.

He is supported by his wife and three young children – three years old and 10 month old twins.

A committee of North Hopkins school teachers and a parent representative helped narrow the search. They decided on six questions including a scenario inquiry for each candidate.

“It was an amazing committee experience,” said North Hopkins ISD Superintendent Dr. Darin Jolly, explaining he learned lots about the school and its staff. “His vast experiences and prior educational successes are parallel with the areas of challenge or need for growth and improvement in North Hopkins ISD.”

The District is still seeking an elementary principal for the upcoming school year. Dr. Jolly plans to assemble a separate committee for this search. Interviews will begin after Spring Break which is March 13-17. The March regular meeting has been moved to Thursday, March 30.
