Hunt County Master Gardener Byron Chitwood recently read a Wall Street Journalarticle: "19 Is the New 60," suggesting that young people are in no better physical condition than people old enough to be their grandparents.  Byron believes this is largely because children are less active than they used to be. He says one way they can be encouraged to get outdoors is by getting interested in gardening.  Byron also says gardening is great for older people, and "85 can be the new 60."
