Drought Conditions Creep Back Into Northeast Texas

After weeks of favorable conditions, signs of drought have returned to the region.
U.S. Drought Monitor

Despite some rain this week, drought conditions have returned to Northeast Texas. The latest report from the Texas Water Development Boardshows abnormally dry conditions returned to the entire northeastern corner of the state over the past week.

Drier conditions returned after several weeks without drought, held at bay mainly by a wetter, cooler August than normal. But though abnormally dry conditions have cropped up, the TWDB doesn’t expect serious drought to form in the region anytime soon. The seasonal outlook through December projects drought development only along the Oklahoma/Arkansas border.
