According to Police, Sunday Night's Shooting Was An Attempted Robbery

Police are looking for information about three suspects in an attempted robbery Sunday evening.

Commerce Police are currently looking for three individuals incolved in a shooting that sent one person to a hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries Sunday evening.

Around 5 p.m. Sunday evening, three people were walking south on Locust Street when they passed someone with a backpack walking in the opposite direction alone. One of the group ran up behind the lone walker and attempted to take his backpack. When that failed, there appeared to be a short conversation before a gun was pulled and the owner of the backpack was shot in his left lower leg. A second shot was fired as the group fled south on Locust Street.

The individual shot was care flighted to Medical City in Plano with non-lifethreatening injures and was released later that evening. No arrest have been made as of now but there is believed to be no danger to the public. Commerce PD is asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Lieutenant Steve Scott at (903) 886-1178.
