Possible projects include a new campus for Travis Primary School and security improvements at other campuses.

In Sulphur Springs, the local school board will be hosting a public meeting this evening on the topic of a bond proposal that will go before voters in November. The Sulphur Springs Independent School District has placed an $81.5 million bond on local ballots in the upcoming general election. The Sulphur Springs News-Telegram reports the largest item in the package is a new Travis Primary School campus, itemized at about $39 million. Other projects include a $25 million dollar improvement to Sulphur Springs High School, $10 million worth of renovations to Bowie Primary School, and $5 million worth of work at Sulphur Springs Elementary School. The proposals for Sulphur Springs High School and Sulphur Springs Elementary School feature security-focused redesigns of the main entrances. The bond proposal follows the recent defeat of a $93 million dollar bond proposal by Sulphur Springs ISD voters. This evening’s public meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Sulphur Springs ISD administration building, located at 631 Connally Street.
