By Kevin Jefferies

Paris, Texas – A new Mayor and Mayor Pro-Tem were chosen to a round of applause Monday at the Paris City Council meeting. Three new council members were sworn in then Jesse Freelen was elected as the new Mayor by a 6-0 vote, and after a pause, Bill Strathern was unanimously chosen Mayor Pro-Tem. Both selections met with a standing ovation from about 60 people present at the meeting.

One of the first orders of business for the new Paris Council is to hire a city manager, after the controversial firing of Tony Williams.
