Commerce City Council <BR> to discuss new fire truck

By Bill Oliver

Commerce, TX –

Earlier this summer, representatives from Texas A&M University-Commerce and the City of Commerce checked out a demonstration of a ladder fire truck. The University has offered to pay about a third of a new unit. The city council discusses the idea Tuesday afternoon at 5 in city hall. The aerial unit is estimated to cost $675,000 dollars. City Manager Bill Shipp said the university would contribute $220,000.

Following that discussion, the council meets at 7 p.m. Agenda items include a recommendation to refuse a rate increase sought by Atmos Gas and consider bond financing for the city's sewer system.
