Commerce to hire legal firm in lawsuit

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – The Commerce City Council plans to finalize a contract Tuesday night with the law firm representing them in its legal dispute against Mayor Quay Throgmorton.

Council is to consider a resolution authorizing a letter of engagement with Scott, Money and Ray, PLLC.

The City filed suit against the Mayor, and his wife Paige in January, for the repayment of nearly $50,000 regarding the 2005 Rosemound Addition project. The Throgmorton's contend that since they paid over $34,000 in 2006 that all sums on their end had been made.

The hourly rates for Robert Scott, Brent Money and Daniel Ray are at least $200 per hour.
