Greenville shooting suspect to appear in court

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A pretrial hearing is today for Francisco Javier Davila-Rodriguez, charged with six counts in connection to a shootout with law enforcement in Greenville last July.

Four of the charges include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a public servant. Davila-Rodriguez is also alleged to have shot another person the same day and fired on a residence, narrowly missing a mother and her child.

He's pleaded not guilty to all six charges. Trial is set for next Monday, April 4.

Last month, the court ordered Davila-Rodriguez to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he is mentally competent to stand trial. Those results have not yet been released.
