Drowsy driver hits DPS vehicle along I-30

By Brad Kellar

Hunt County – Three people were hospitalized, including a DPS trooper, after a driver fell asleep behind the wheel while traveling through Hunt County.

The accident occurred Tuesday morning as a trooper was working traffic near the eastbound 83 mile marker of Interstate 30 at around 2:30 a.m.

The female driver, who had reportedly been traveling for several hours, rear-ended the trooper's vehicle and spun into traffic, and was then clipped by a passing 18-wheeler.

The driver and trooper were then taken to area hospitals where they were treated and released. An 11-year-old boy riding in the car reportedly suffered a broken leg, and was being treated at a Dallas hospital.
