Bonham – Fannin County Commissioners will meet in special session tomorrow to address a possibly countywide animal control facility.
The meeting comes after they conducted gatherings earlier this month to gauge the public's interest, and a week after the Bonham City Council issued a 30 day deadline in determining a cost effective approach to the issue.
According to Mayor Roy Floyd, the city is interested in a countywide solution, but has a plan just in case. An earlier proposal by Police Chief Mike Bankston would create a complex close to 1,000 square feet, which could hold up to about 40 animals, including about a dozen dog runs. The facility would be only about a third the size of estimates for a countywide building.
Commissioners meet at 10 a.m. Friday in the Fannin County Courthouse.
