School board to consider TEA waiver, policy updates

COMMERCE - The Commerce ISD Thursday will consider submission of a request for maximum class size waiver to the Texas Education Agency.

The TEA requires all districts that exceed the 22-to-1 student-teacher ratio in kindergarten through fourth-grade classes to apply for a maximum class size exception request. Waivers can be granted because of lack of facilities, lack of teachers or unanticipated growth.

CISD will also consider approval of a number of policy updates and recognize the District 10 3A Champion CHS Volleyball team.

An executive session will precede Thursday's open meeting, which will begin at 7 p.m. from the CISD Administration Building, 3315 Washington Street.
