GREENVILLE - State Troopers say the death of a local businessman occurred Friday as he stood in the frontage road along Interstate 30 while his car was being prepared for a tow.

Kamal Ahmed Chowdhury was reportedly standing next to the tow truck at about 10:30 p.m. Friday when he was struck by a passing vehicle. He was said to be wearing dark clothing and there were no lights on the roadway.

Chowdhury was the owner of two “Prime Stop” convenience stores in Greenville.
