COMMERCE - Although donations are rolling in, organizers announced Monday that they’ll cancel this week’s fundraiser luncheon due to the excessive heat. The event to raise funds for the district’s iPad initiative will take place in the fall.
The campaign has raised over $4,000 so far. The Commerce Schools Education Enrichment Foundation's initial donation of $30,000 reduced the iPad cost to $300, a reduction of $79. Parents with two or more children at CHS could purchase one iPad for $300 and additional iPads at half price. Additional donations help defray the $150 cost reduction.
Cypress Bank has pledged $2.000 and Guaranty Bond Bank is financing iPads at a low-interest rate.
The iPads will be distributed at 6 p.m., Wednesday, August 15 at the Commerce ISD Central Administration Building at 3315 Washington St.
