Gray apologizes for Bowie PTA theft

Greenville ISD

Amy Gray of Greenville pleaded guilty last week to an indictment for forgery.

The indictment  alleged Gray wrote forged checks on the account of the Bowie Elementary School PTA.

As part of her sentence Gray was also ordered to write a one-half page letter of apology to her victims, to appear in the Herald-Banner newspaper. The letter is scheduled to appear in today’s edition.

Gray says she takes full responsibility for her actions and apologizes to her victims.

Gray pleaded guilty to passing 21 checks between Aug. 20 and Nov. 27, 2011, in amounts ranging from $108.93 to more than $3,900 each. The total amount Gray stole came to just under $20,000.

Gray’s family members said the entire missing amount has been repaid.
