Fireworks possible cause in Cooper house fire

Authorities believe fireworks being unlawfully set off inside city limits could be the possible cause of a house fire on the evening of July 4 at 1403 Circle Drive in Cooper.

The Delta County Sheriff’s Department responded to the call at about 9:15 p.m. The Cooper Volunteer Fire Department - as well as Klondike, Pecan Gap, Enloe and Commerce Fire Departments - fought the fire.

Owners Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Bryant had just left their home, located near Horseshoe Drive.

There were a total of 25 fire fighters helping to fight the blaze, which was contained mainly the garage and laundry room.

The fire remains under investigation.
