The two forks of the Sabine River that run though Hunt County are a bit more watery than usual, and more rain - plus the usual ambiguous "wintry mix" of freezing rain, sleet and snow - is on the way.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the Cowleech Fork of the Sabine River at Greenville and for the South Fork of the Sabine River near Quinlan. Minor flooding - about a foot over flood levels - is expected.
At the Cowleech Fork, water levels were recorded at over 10 feet by midday on Wednesday. Flood stage is 14 feet. Waters there are expected to rise above flood stage tonight and crest near 15 feet on Thursday morning.
At the South Fork, water levels were recorded at over 11 feet by midday on Wednesday. Flood stage is 15 feet. Waters there are expected to rise above flood stage tonight and crest near 16 feet on Thursday morning.
