The Texas Department of Transportation announced the repairs necessary for State Highway 19 will begin in September. This will be for the portion that stretches from north of Sulphur Springs to the Delta County line near the Sulphur River bridge.

According to a press release, engineers in the Paris District completed forensic testing on the road surface.

“Once the tests are concluded, engineers will be able to pinpoint a solution for the rough pavement surface that developed during 100 plus degree summer heat following a pavement rehabilitation of that roadway,” said Tim McAlavy, TxDOT Public Information Officer, assuring drivers they are gearing up to repair the roadway surface.

Drivers are urged to slow down and drive to road conditions and not use the road shoulders as a main travel lane.
