Husband and wife Walt and Isabel Davis of Campbell were inspired by Dallas Morning News columnist Frank X. Tolbert's epic journey around the perimeter of Texas in the 1950s, and several years ago decided to follow in Tolbert's footsteps with their own 4,000-mile expedition around the state's borders.  The result is Exploring the Edges of Texas.  More recently, Walt, the former curator of exhibits at the Dallas Museum of Natural History, published Building an Ark for Texas, his take on the history of the Fair Park museum, which spawned the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.
