Hunt County Constable Steps Down

Hunt County Constable Don Morrison says he’s stepping down from his post.

Morrison is the constable of Precinct 3, which includes the Wolfe City and Celeste areas, among others. The County Commissioners accepted his letter of resignation this morning. Morrison told the Herald-Banner that he’s leaving for personal reasons.

The timing of the resignation leaves it up to the county to figure out what to do about the position. Morrison’s resignation now means it’s too late to get any provisional names on the November ballot. And the precinct’s former Justice of the Peace, Aaron Williams, resigned that post in January.

The County Commissioners are looking into how to proceed.
