A wind advisory will be in effect throughout the region on Saturday.

  • Fire danger across much of Northeast Texas is rated as high by the Texas A&M University Forest Service. Fire danger is expected to be very high across parts of the region on Saturday, despite cooling temperatures, as strong winds are forecast to accompany Saturday’s cold front. In northeastern Collin County, firefighters battled a blaze near Blue Ridge on Thursday.
  • The current COVID-19 outbreak is causing school districts around the region to cancel some days around next Monday’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Sulphur Springs ISD and Cumby ISD are among those districts recently announcing cancellations.
