Washington running for re-election to Greenville City Council Place 3

Municipal elections have been set for May 6, with early voting starting April 24.

  • In Greenville, Kristen Washington has announced she’ll be running for re-election to the city council. Washington represents place 3 on the council. Washington is seeking her second three-year term representing Place 3. The Greenville Herald-Banner reports one other candidate, Carl Jameson, has also announced a candidacy for Place 3. Municipal elections are scheduled for May 6. Early voting begins April 24.
  • Elsewhere in Hunt County, the City of Quinlan will be getting a large grant to help with a city parks project. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has approved a $150,000 grant for the Quinlan Community Park project. The Herald-Banner reports proposed developments at the park include a concrete trail, exercise stations, solar LED trail lighting, and pickleball courts. Texas Parks and Wildlife has approved more than $9.8 million in grants to cities across the state for the improvement of municipal parks.
  • Traffic on Interstate 30 in Rockwall County is expected to flow normally this week. A proposed closure of I-30 at Dalrock Road has been postponed by the Texas Department of Transportation. The agency has not announced a rescheduled time for the closure. Interstate 30 over Lake Ray Hubbard is undergoing a major expansion. It’s part of a multi-year overhaul of I-30 between the Dallas County line and Greenville.
