Wolfe City Fire and Rescue along with other first responders from around the region performed a dramatic rescue yesterday after a person fell into a grain silo. Shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, Wolfe City dispatchers received a report of a person who had fallen into a grain bin at Wolfe City Grain, located on State Highway 11, just west of the intersection with State Highway 34.

The person, who was not indentified, had fallen into a silo about half-full of corn and was reportedly almost submerged in the corn. Wolfe City Fire, Hunt County EMS, and Commerce Fire departments responded to the call. They were later joined by the Bonham and Greenville Fire departments. The Bonham Fire Department brought equipment specifically for grain bin rescues. After about two hours, the person was rescued and airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital.
