Greenville ISD approves 3.5% raise for all staff

The increase is scheduled to go into effect for the 2023-24 academic year.

  • The Greenville Independent School District has approved a 3 and a half percent raise for all district employees. The raise is scheduled go into effect with the 2023-24 school year. The Greenville Herald Banner reports the district plans to give all employees a $1,000 bonus in September. Also, cafeteria workers are scheduled to receive a $2 per hour raise. The academic calendar for the next school year in Greenville ISD also includes 13 Fridays that will be in-service days for teachers and holidays for students. The district also continues to plan to offer discounted daycare services for the children of district employees.
  • In Hopkins County, law enforcement officials are investigating a death that happened on Interstate 30 last Saturday night. An adult man was found dead on I-30 near Saltillo. Texas Department of Public Safety officers responded to multiple calls from motorists who saw the body. Officials say the man appeared to have been hit by more than one vehicle.
  • Texas A&M University-Commerce is hosting this year’s Southland Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Events begin this afternoon and will continue through Saturday evening. More information and tickets are available at the Southland Conference’s website, Southland.org.
