Derek Price, representing the Hunt County Festival of ArtsMay 6-7, says the event was inspired by the late Dennis Strickland, who became an ambassador for the arts in his relatively short time living in Greenville.

The organizers are honoring his legacy by creating an event that celebrates the arts in all their creative forms-visual, culinary, musical, theatrical, and more. Dennis organized the regular Hump Day Happy Hour events at the Texan Theater in downtown Greenville, in which artists and performers are put in the spotlight.

John Mark Dempsey is the host of the public interest program The Blacklands Café from KETR News. Dempsey is also the play-by-play announcer for Commerce Tigers Football on 88.9 FM and on ketr.org.
