Car crashes into house, injures two

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – Two people suffered minor injuries Monday when a car crashed through a house in Commerce.

Emergency crews received a call at 8:18 a.m. Monday regarding the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Live Oak and Washington Street.

The driver, Eugene Wall, is said to have been traveling eastbound on Live Oak when he missed the intersection and barreled through the bedroom of Robert Grove, who was in the room at the time.

Grove's injuries are said to have occurred from flying debris, and not from the car itself. He initially told officials he was fine, before taking himself to the hospital a short time later. He has since been released.

Wall was transported by ambulance immediately following the accident to the Hunt Regional Community Hospital in Commerce. His injuries are said to be minor. As of Monday night, it was unknown whether he remained in the hospital.

No other people are said to be involved in the crash. The accident is under investigation.
