Community college discusses tuition increase

By Scott Harvey

Paris – Paris Junior College is considering an increase of $15 per semester credit hour to help deal with budget cuts.

But President Pam Anglin told regents this week that a charge of $54 per SCH for community college may be more than most people can afford, especially if student aid money dries up.

She told officials to expect an $8.3 million hit in state funding during the next biennium unless the Texas Legislature backs off proposed budget cuts. Anglin said PJC will need to get creative in looking at savings ideas and some tuition increase.

PJC's current charge per semester hour is $39.
