Guilty plea entered in a Commerce shooting case

Commerce – A guilty plea has been entered in a Commerce shooting. John Scott Thompson II was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Jury selection had been scheduled in the case for next Monday before Thompson entered the guilty plea during a pretrial hearing Thursday. Thompson was placed on 10 years of deferred adjudication probation, according to a statement issued by District Attorney F. Duncan Thomas.
