Hunt County – A long awaited capitol murder trial is set to begin this month in Hunt County.
A final pretrial hearing for Brandon Dale Woodruff is set for Monday afternoon, at which time the court will handle any pending motions, including a recent motion to suppress evidence filed by the defense team. Jury selection is set for Tuesday morning.
Woodruff has pleaded not guilty to killing his parents, Dennis Woodruff and Norma, inside their home just northeast of Royse City in Oct., 2005.
The prosecution has announced it is not seeking death by lethal injection as a punishment for Woodruff, should he be convicted of murder. If he is convicted, Woodruff would face an automatic sentence of life in prison.
