Paris fugitive apprehended

By Scott Harvey

Paris – Acting on a Crime Stoppers tip, Officers of the Paris Police Department on Friday were able to locate and arrest a wanted fugitive.

Donavan Lamont Lewis was wanted since early Thursday for aggravated assault on a public servant in connection with the injury to Paris Police Officer Marshall Good. On Friday, at around 2 p.m., officers surrounded a residence located at 1510 NE 15th, where they found Lewis hiding in a shed in the back yard of the residence. He was also found to be in possession of a misdemeanor amount of marijuana.

According to reports, Officers Good and Raymond Moss were dispatched to a call of a male and female fighting in the 1500 block of NE 15th Street on Thursday at around 12:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, the two witnessed a car with its lights on, and a screaming female. The car, allegedly driven by Lewis, then began to driving straight towards the patrol car, forcing Officer Good to jump back onto the threshold of the cars driver's door, just as the Lewis' vehicle struck the patrol car, causing injury to Good's lower left leg. He was later taken to Paris Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Officer Moss was able to track down the vehicle a short time later, but it had already been abandoned.
