Trustees to hear report on Community Plaza

COMMERCE - The Commerce ISD Board Monday night will receive an update on the Community Plaza, which enters its second week of operation.

A grand opening for the Mexican Consulate-sanctioned Plaza was held last month. The purpose of the Plaza is to educate Hispanic young people and adults for success in life and work, and dozens of Hispanic families will benefit from English as Second Language classes.

This is the 13th Plaza that the Mexican Consulate in Dallas has opened in the region, with hopes to continue to expand in North Texas. Commerce is the first Plaza outside of the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.

A report on the Plaza can be heard as part of Monday's regular agenda, scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. from the CISD Administration Building.
