A&M-Commerce wins first conference game

By Kevin Jefferies

Commerce – The A&M-Commerce Lions came out with a win Saturday as Rita swirled throughout Commerce. The Lions began conference play hosting Central Oklahoma and came out with a 17-3 victory as the winds roared and rains fell. The Lions defense held fast allowing just a field goal and no strong touchdown threats and also scored a touchdown of their own courtesy of an interception return by safety Vernis James.

The Lions are now 2-3 on the season and 1-0 in conference play. They hit the road this Saturday to face East Central Oklahoma.
