Beating trial set to finish today

By Kevin Jefferies

Sulphur Springs – Trial is expected to finish today for one man accused in the severe beating of a Sulphur Springs man. Marcus Wells was lured out to a remote location in November of 2004 and beaten severely by eight men. Wells survived severe head injuries that put him into a coma.

Trial for one of the accused is expected to wrap up today. Prosecutors are seeking a lengthy prison sentence for then-22-year-old Damien Jolly of Cooper for his role in the crime. The defense is seeking probation because Jolly has no previous adult record.
