Burn ban remains in place

By Kevin Jefferies

Hunt County – The burn ban in Hunt County remains in place. County Commissioners unanimously voted yesterday to keep the burn ban active for Hunt County. Fire Marshall Mike Pierce said the county is still very dry and he did not recommend lifting the burn ban at this time. Pierce also said that some neighboring counties that have lifted their burn bans have seen a significant increase in wildfires.

The burn ban has been in effect since June 26th. Anyone violating the burn ban can face fines or jail time.
