Paris Police providing crime reports online

By Scott Harvey

Paris – The Paris Police Department is now making crime reports more easily accessible to citizens through the internet.

Officials have announced the implementation of the service, which partners with 16 other Texas cities through CrimeReports.com.

CrimeReports.com is free to the public and allows users to receive alerts automatically via e-mail if a crime occurs in a particular neighborhood. It also allows people to view reported crime activity on a Google Maps interface for any location within the police department's boundaries.

Paris police will publish local crime information to the site at least once a day. Information provided to CrimeReports.com includes the preliminary call type, date of call, incident number and a block address, only. No personal information regarding persons involved in the call is transmitted to the site.

Users can choose time periods of data and make choices regarding what types of criminal activities they want displayed. The data is archived and available for historical searches back to May, 2008.

Other nearby participating cities in CrimeReports.com includes Dallas, Plano, Rowlett and The Colony.
