Commerce burglary suspect given probation

Commerce – The second of two Commerce men, alleged to have burglarized a residence last December, is placed on probation.

Edward Joe Lopez had been scheduled for trial Monday.

Lopez, along with Favian Ontoin Brown were alleged to have used a firearm to threaten and rob two male victims of money in Commerce in June, 2008.

On Wednesday, Lopez was placed on five years of probation with 120 hours of community service and $500 fine. Brown pleaded guilty in June and was placed on two years of probation with 300 hours of community service and also a $500 fine.
