Wood County case ends in mistrial for second time

By Scott Harvey

Winnsboro – The trial of a Winnsboro man, charged with the 2005 death of his step-grandfather, has ended in a mistrial for a second time.

Kaleb Richard Hooks reportedly became combative in Wood County District Court yesterday and had to be removed from the courtroom. He's is accused of beating 47-year-old Richard Tinney to death at Tinney's Winnsboro home.

Hook's attorneys say he is mentally ill, although psychiatrists say he's competent to stand trial.
