Man seriously injured after being struck with hammer

Sulphur Springs – A 49-year-old man from Georgia was arrested in Sulphur Springs last night following reports of a fight that caused serious injury to one man.

The man was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, after police say he used a hammer to strike another man several times. The victim was transported to Memorial Hospital. The extent of his injuries was not known.

The incident occurred at Pilot Travel Center in Sulphur Springs.
