Local man faces charges of ID theft

By Brad Kellar

Commerce – A Commerce man is charged with fraud and tampering with government documents after allegedly found in possession of dozens of ID cards.

A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday for Alvert Mutasa, who's seeking a reduction in his $115,000 total bond.

During a routine traffic stop on Nov. 11, an officer with the Commerce Police Department found a number of papers and documents with the names, dates of births and social security numbers of more than 50 people.
