Sheriff's office to purchase new drug dog

Hunt County – Hunt County commissioners on Monday approved a request from the Sheriff's Office to move forward with the purchase of a drug dog.

The county's current dog has been with the department for nearly five years, which is closing in on the typical term length for a drug dog.

Such a dog is expected to cost between $4,000 and $8,000. Funding would come from donations, seizure funds and services provided to local schools, such as sniffing lockers and hallways.
