Student arrested for drug possession

By Scott Harvey

Commerce – A Criminal Justice student at Texas A&M University-Commerce was arrested Wednesday for possession of marijuana.

21-year-old Michael Rashad Horn was found with over four ounces of the drug, as well as a 9mm pistol and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

The bust occurred in the 1900 block of Live Oak Street at Gant Apartments.

Officers were informed of drug trafficking at the location and upon arrival observed smoke and could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana. The items were located after an apartment official gave police permission to search the residence.

Horn's bond was set at $15,000 on the charge. As Horn lives within 1000 feet of the university and 1000 feet of a daycare, a drug free zone was added to the possession charge.
