Trial date set in Hunt County murder case

By Brad Kellar

Greenville – A trial date is set in a 2008 Hunt County murder case. Jury selection is set Sept. 27 for 22-year-old Tracie Danielle Alphin, of Quinlan, involving the death of Jason Herrington.

Alphin's previous trial date set for earlier this year was postponed as officials awaited DNA test results.

She is one of two people, along with 31-year-old David Earl Hickman, of Royse City, charged in Herrington's death. Hickman is currently set for trial on Aug. 2.

Both Alphin and Hickman have pleaded not guilty and remain in custody at the Hunt County Jail, each on $1 million bond.

Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty for either of the defendants, should they be convicted.
