Bonham – An appeals court has reinstated the 2008 case of two pit bulls that attacked a woman and an 11-year-old girl in Bonham.
Fannin County Judge Laurie Blake had previously dismissed the charges against the dogs' owner, John Hardy Taylor, ruling that Texas Health and Safety Code laws were vague and unconstitutional. The code pertaining to dog attacks states that an owner has committed criminal negligence if their animal attacks a person not on their property.
Last week, the courts granted Taylor's attorney an extension to file for a rehearing.
According to Fannin County District Attorney Richard Glaser, if Taylor gets an unfavorable ruling, then other dog owners will also be more aware of the laws
