County Commissioner among dead in seperate wrecks

By Scott Harvey

Red River County – Two Red River County residents were killed in separate accidents over the weekend, including a county commissioner.

The body of Commissioner Josef Hausler was found underneath his four-wheeler on a farm near Bogata on Saturday. He apparently had run his four-wheeler into a 10 foot gulley in an overgrown field.

Hausler was up for election in November and was unopposed for the Precinct 4 commissioner post.

The Red River County Courthouse will be closed today, with funeral services at 2 p.m. at Clarksville Funeral Home.

In a separate accident, 31-year-old Amanda Harper Knelson, of Bogota, died following a wreck on Hwy 271 south of Paris on Saturday. Knelson was a passenger in a pickup that went out of control and hit a guardrail.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say no seatbelts were worn and all three in the vehicle were ejected when it crashed.
