Residents to decide on bond package, tax hike

By Brad Kellar

Campbell – The Campbell ISD has approved to place both a bond and tax ratification election on the November ballot.

School Board members this week voted in favor of a $5 million bond package, plus a property tax rate of $1.17 per $100 valuation.

Since the proposed tax rate exceeds the effective rate, it must be approved by voters.

The bond package, if approved, would provide funds to be used to build a new elementary school, which district officials say is needed due to rapid growth. Preliminary plans call for the construction of 12 to 14 new classrooms, a cafeteria and a physical education gymnasium.
