Hospital to hold hearings on tax increase

By Scott Harvey

Sulphur Springs – Hopkins County Memorial Hospital has scheduled two public hearings to gather input on a proposed rise in the property tax rate.

Officials are seeking a five cent per one hundred dollar valuation increase.

Hearings are set for Friday, September 10 at noon and on Thursday, September 16 at noon.

The hospital says they've been hurt financially by the large amount of charity cases it handles and bad debt.
