A&M-Commerce final enrollment reaches 10,813

By Brent Lyday

Commerce – Texas A&M University-Commerce recorded its highest enrollment in school history with 10,813 students according to the official 12th day class numbers. The previous mark was 9,981 students set in 1975.

"The record enrollment, particularly compared to other universities in our region, indicates we have become a first-choice university," said Dr. Mary Hendrix, A&M-Commerce vice president for student access and success.

A&M-Commerce increased attendance 12.29 percent from fall 2009, and currently has one of the highest student populations in The Texas A&M University System. The increase enrollment for fall 2010 is more than many of the surrounding universities, including The University of North Texas (3.8 percent), Texas Woman's University (7.1 percent) and Tarleton State University (8 percent).

"The quality of our academic programs and faculty, a focus on customer service, and an investment in our campus life make this a place student want to be," Hendrix said. "We are pleased students want to attend Texas A&M University-Commerce and have helped set an official enrollment record."
