Greenville – As many as four people were wounded and nine arrested on weapons charges following separate shootings overnight in Campbell and Lone Oak.
Sheriff Randy Meeks said the two incidents were apparently unconnected, although both appeared to be the result of drug-related activity.
A traffic stop of a suspect vehicle found nine occupants, all of whom were arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon. They had planned to meet another group in Sulphur Springs for a fight, allegedly as the result of a narcotics-related dispute.
In the other incident, two men were treated for gunshot wounds. However, no suspects in the case had yet to be identified. Both cases are under investigation.
